LP SmartSide engineered wood siding gives you the warmth and texture of real wood backed by a 50-year substrate warranty. It handles Minnesota weather, accepts paint well, and costs less than fiber cement.
LP SmartSide is an engineered wood product — real wood strands bonded with resin and treated with SmartGuard, LP’s zinc borate process that resists rot, termites, and fungal decay. Three things to know:
01
The 50-year warranty covers structural panel integrity, the substrate itself. That’s the core of the product. Finish warranties vary by the paint system you choose.
02
LP SmartSide accepts paint well. If you want to change your home’s color in ten years, you sand, prime, and repaint. No special coatings required.
03
The engineered wood substrate is dent-resistant and handles hail better than vinyl. Impact damage that would crack vinyl typically leaves LP SmartSide intact.
The Right Fit
Is LP SmartSide Right for Your Home?
LP SmartSide Makes Sense If You:
Want the look and feel of real wood without the upkeep
Plan to repaint your home at some point and want a surface that handles it well
Live in a hail-prone area and want something more impact-resistant than vinyl
It May Not Be the Right Call If:
You want a fully maintenance-free exterior, LP SmartSide will need repainting every 10–15 years
You prefer steel or vinyl for maximum longevity with zero paint maintenance
Your budget is tight; vinyl siding costs less upfront

LP SmartSide Profiles
LP SmartSide Profiles We Install
LP SmartSide comes in several profile styles. Each serves a different look and application. Here’s what we install most often:
Lap Siding
The most common residential look. Horizontal planks installed in an overlapping pattern. LP SmartSide lap siding comes in smooth and cedar-texture finishes, with exposure widths from 6 to 12 inches. This is what most homeowners picture when they think of wood siding.
Panel Siding
Vertical board-and-batten and sheet panel profiles. Used for accent walls, gable ends, or full exterior applications where you want a more modern or farmhouse-style vertical line. Panels come in 4×8 and 4×9 sheets.
Cedar Texture Shakes
Shake-style panels that replicate the look of individual cedar shakes but install as a full panel. Faster install than real shakes, no individual piece splitting or curling over time. Available in staggered and straight-edge patterns.
Trim and Fascia
LP SmartSide trim boards and fascia complete the system. Matching trim ensures the entire exterior weathers and ages consistently. Available in multiple widths for window casings, corner boards, frieze boards, and fascia wraps.
