Our Process
What Happens During Your Roofing Consultation?

Whether you are concerned about storm damage, dealing with a roofing issue, or planning a replacement, your first appointment should give you clear answers.

In this video, we explain what happens during a Foremost Exteriors consultation, what we inspect, what you will receive afterward, and how to prepare for the appointment. We start by listening to your concerns, then inspect the shingles, valleys, flashing, ventilation, and other important parts of the roofing system. When needed, we also check the attic, siding, gutters, windows, and other areas that could be connected to the problem.

If the visit is storm-related, we document what appears consistent with storm damage and what looks like normal wear. If you are planning a replacement or upgrade, we explain the available options based on performance, maintenance, and budget.

After the appointment, you will receive a clear recap, supporting photos or measurements, and recommended next steps when applicable. No pressure. Just clear facts.

If hail resistance is important to you, we can also show you which products carry impact-resistance ratings and provide the product information you may need when asking your insurance agent about possible premium discounts.

Peace of Mind
Warranty and Long-Term Protection

Every full roof replacement carries a 5-year workmanship warranty. That covers our installation quality, independent of the manufacturer’s warranty on the materials themselves. The warranty does not cover weather events, acts of God, material defects, or damage from deferred maintenance. To keep a roof performing, we recommend periodic maintenance: clearing debris, cleaning gutters, and inspecting penetrations and sealants at least once a year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about roofing systems, process, and warranties.

It depends on more than whether a shingle is missing. We look at the actual damage, the age and condition of the roof, whether the material is still available, and whether a repair can be made without damaging surrounding shingles or leaving the roof in worse condition than before. If needed, we document repairability instead of guessing.

Many asphalt roof replacements can be completed in a day once materials, weather, and crew availability line up. Larger homes, steep roofs, specialty products, poor access, or hidden discoveries can add time.

We stop, document it, show you what we found, and explain the next step before covering it up. Rotten or failed decking is not something to ignore because the new roofing system is only as good as the surface under it.

For most Minnesota homes, we recommend a complete roofing system, not just shingles. That means proper underlayment, ice and water protection where needed, starter, ridge components, ventilation, flashing details, and installation that holds up to wind, snow, ice, and freeze-thaw conditions.

A real roof replacement usually includes tear-off, underlayment, ice and water protection where required, starter, ridge or hip cap, flashing work, pipe boots, drip edge, ventilation details, and cleanup. It should be built as a system, not treated like a basic shingle swap.

In Minnesota, this is often an important part of building a roof that handles ice dam exposure and vulnerable eave areas correctly. It is not just an upgrade on the wrong roof. In many cases it is part of doing the system right.

We plan for protection before tear-off starts. That usually includes staging, debris control, magnetic cleanup, and extra care around fragile areas like flowers, shrubs, AC units, decks, and patio furniture.

Yes. That should be part of the plan, not an afterthought. Roofing is messy by nature, but good setup and cleanup go a long way in protecting the property and leaving it in good condition.

It is loud. Tear-off, compressors, foot traffic, and material movement all create noise, so we tell homeowners to plan for a busy day.

Move vehicles, clear the driveway, protect fragile wall items inside, secure pets, and remove or cover anything around the home that could be affected by falling debris or heavy crew activity.
